The Embassy of Japan in Denmark visits J-Popcon and provides a lecture about studying in Japan and teach you how to pratice the art of paperfolding with an origami workshop. On Friday evening November 11th.
Join the entertaining and educational workshop to learn more about the Japanese art of paper folding 'origami' and try it out for yourself. Figurines and decorations made from folded paper have been a staple of ceremonies and religious rituals in Japan for centuries but are also frequently used for practical, entertaining or artistic purposes. Most crafts are made from quadratic pieces of coloured and decorated paper.
Gifts are wrapped in intricately folded paper and garnished with symbolic decorations called noshi, also made from folded paper. In kindergardens and schools children learn how to fold figures and boxes to train and develop their
dexterity. Origami also takes a part in the teaching of mathematics to explain and visualise geometry. After 1945, the interest in origami spread to the West where many organisations and origami-groups can be found.
If you're currently in education or if you just want to know more about the opportunity to study in Japan, don't miss out on the lecture about studying in Japan. Several past and current participants at J-Popcon have studied in
Japan and is has been a huge experience for all of them.
The lecture and the origami workshop will both be held on Friday evening from 18.00 to 20.00. Precise times and locations can be seen in the official J-Popcon schedule when it is published.
